MUSIC RECOGNITION FEATURES
Musician Recognition Features will honor musicians and groups who have notable connections to this region and made significant impact on the music industry. They honor these musicians in a respectful and meaningful way.
Only features funded by donations will be installed on the block.
The Musician Recognition Features, illustrated below, will include an image and a narrative to communicate the essence of the musician or group contribution to music and their connection to this region. Donors will be recognized prominently on the visible edge of the features, as shown below.
Recognition features will be placed along the Musicians Walk, at locations illustrated in the image below. They will be constructed of commercial grade materials designed to last for decades. Each feature will be lit.
To date, nine musicians or musical groups have been nominated:
Are you ready to jump in and help bring this feature into reality for the City of Stillwater? The community is ready but we need an impressive and generous sponsorship to make it happen. Read on about how you will be forever recognized for the huge heart you have for this community.
MUSICIAN SELECTION:
A committee has been formed of experts in local, national and international music and musical history vets the nominated musicians and will guide the content of recognition captured on the recognition features. A general overview of eligibility is as follows:
Musician and or musical group or genre or tribal traditions must have been
• Born in and/or
• Formed in and/or
• Raised in and/or
• Spent a meaningful enough time in
The region including (either Payne or adjacent counties):
• Payne
• Logan
• Noble
• Pawnee
• Lincoln
• Western portion Creek (west of western edge of Tulsa County) (Creek county goes east south of Tulsa, so this limits greater Tulsa area influence)
Professional and Personal Qualifications
• Nationally and/or Internationally recognized for their musical talents and influence and/or
• Recognized for significant influence on music and/or musicians in the region and/or State of Oklahoma
and
• Artist or all members of the originating musical group are or have been dead for three or more years
•Has not been convicted of a sex related crime, crime of human abuse, or a crime against children.

Allocation of donations will be on a first come first serve basis. If we receive two donations for a specific feature we will respectfully contact the additional donor and discuss possible options.
It should be noted and understood that the Stillwater Community Center Foundation, SCCF, is designated by the IRS as a charitable 501(c)(3) corporation operating in the State of Oklahoma. Our mission extends beyond the Stillwater Community Center to include facilities and programs that affect and benefit the Stillwater Community Center including our neighbor to the East, Block 34. Please know that each donor will receive a receipt indicating donor name, date of donation, amount of donation, application of donation (if for specific element), and details of donor recognition. This receipt can be used for the purpose of income tax return preparation. Please consult with an accountant for further details. We highly value the funds that you will be investing in this effort and we strive to earn your trust. We simply cannot thank you enough.
