Our Building
It's not just a building. Did you know that in 2019 the Stillwater Community Center booked 1,482 room rentals and 118,885 people used the building? It truly is our own Historic Gathering Place.
History Worth Preserving
The building began in 1924 when the west wing was built. The building served as North High School until 1961 when the new high school building was built. The building became Stillwater Junior High School and then Stillwater Middle School until the last class of students left in 1987. In 1991 it was acquired by the City of Stillwater. Today it is the Stillwater Community Center.
Continues to be a Busy Place
The Community Center is owned and managed by the City of Stillwater. The Community Center offers meeting rooms, the Lowry Activity Center for events including a small kitchen area, and the 710-seat Winfrey D. Houston Theater which is utilized by local, regional, and national performing groups.
